TWENTY OF THE 60 trophies stolen in a raid on Red Bull’s headquarters in the British town of Milton Keynes have been found in a lake.
The trophies were taken after thieves drove two vehicles through the front entrance of the Formula One team’s premises during a late-night burglary earlier this month, which team principal Christian Horner described as “devastating”.
Some of them have now been found in Horseshoe Lake near the town of Sandhurst in southern England, 75 miles (120 kilometres) south of Milton Keynes, after being spotted by a member of the public, but many are damaged.
“Some of the trophies were recovered from Horseshoe Lake near Sandhurst,” said a spokesperson from Thames Valley Police.
We estimate about 20 trophies have been recovered, but we are liaising with Red Bull to establish the exact number as some of the trophies are damaged.”
The trophies taken in the raid did not include the F1 drivers’ and constructors’ championship prizes, which were presented to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes at the end of the 2014 season.
Police are still appealing for information about the raid, in which nobody was hurt.
