Red Bull deny having problems with 2013 car

The RB9 will be ready for the first test in Spain on February 5, contrary to reports.

RED BULL RACING has doused speculation about their new RB9, announcing that the car will be ready by the first test of 2013 in Spain.

Rumours had abound that the car would not be ready in time for the first test on February 5 in Jerez but the team took to Twitter, setting the record straight.

“The RB9 will be unveiled on Sunday 3 February in Milton Keynes ahead of the first test in Jerez. More details to follow,” Red Bull tweeted.

Red Bull technical chief Adrian Newey had intimated that the intensity of last season’s title battle had compromised the team’s work on the RB9.

“We were introducing developments to the (RB8) car right up to the penultimate race (of 2012),” Newey told Autosport.

“That has made it difficult to introduce all of those and simultaneously develop the next car.

“If I’m honest, this has compromised the timescales of the new car more than we would have liked.

“It was the right trade at the time, because we managed to get the job done but it means a busy winter trying to catch up again.
