The Rams fooled everyone with a genius trick punt return touchdown

Woah! it actually worked!

THE ST LOUIS Rams drew up one of the more whimsical trick plays you’ll ever see in an NFL game, and it worked to perfection.

On a punt return in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams pretended to catch the punt on the left side of the field when the ball was actually on the right side of the field. The Seahawks totally fell for it. They all ran to the Rams player who was pretending to catch the punt instead of the guy who actually had the ball (Steadman Bailey), who returned it 90 yards for a touchdown.

Here’s the play (more below):

All but two Seahawks players were moving toward the wrong returner:

The camera guy was fooled too:

They couldn't believe this actually worked:

Incredible that the Seahawks players never thought of glancing at where their own colleague kicked the ball.

The Rams almost fluffed it at the end with that fortunate fumble recovery.

The Sea hawks are looking a bit jittery.

Even the cameraman was fooled! I can’t believe that the Seattle players never look to see where the ball is. Maybe they were under the impression the punter would kick it down their right-side but he mis-kicked? Madness.

I don’t think it’d be too easy to look up with neck and head protection on, the helmets would block a good bit of the view as well and with stadium lights, screens, fans etc the ball would be tricky enough to follow as it is. They probably just get used to watching the opposition for queues as to where it will land. Funny as all hell though. The kicker must have been going spare, “No you idiots the other way!”

Not just that, we made a very ballsy fake punt play with a minute to go in the game. Almost blew it on the final play but delighted to get a win over the reigning champs.
