Rafa Nadal has already hit a real contender for shot of the US Open

Rafa turns straight-sets win over Ryan Harrison into something a little bit special.

BARRING A MAJOR upset, the opening days of a tennis grand slam are usually packed out with mundane straight-set victories for the top seeds.

But as the US Open got underway at Flushing Meadows Rafa Nadal injected a little bit of life into proceedings, playing what could turn out to be the shot of the tournament against Ryan Harrison.

In Harrison’s defence he plays the point almost perfectly, forcing Nadal wide twice with a huge serve and then with an equally forceful return.

All Nadal can do is block the ball back and hope for the best but when Harrison tries to finally kill him off with a big smash, Nadal responds on the run with a quite incredible winner.

In the end Nadal won in — yup, you guessed it — straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

Anyone fancy a bobblehead Robbie Keane for Christmas?
