Premier League linesman dropped from game following gaffes

Dave Bryan has been withdrawn from Liverpool’s match with Blackburn tomorrow.

DAVE BRYAN, THE assistant referee responsible for the contentious offside calls during Chelsea’s game with Wigan at the weekend, has been dropped from Liverpool’s match with Blackburn tomorrow.

Chelsea beat Wigan 2-1, despite replays indicating that both their goals should have been ruled out for offside.

Officials are not always withdrawn from matches owing to poor performances, though the Daily Mail reports that it is the likely reason in this instance.

And following Saturday’s game, Wigan manager Roberto Martinez did not hide his frustration with the standard of officiating, calling it “disgusting,” and the Spanish boss could yet face disciplinary action for his comments.
