5 Premier League bets to consider this weekend

We are backing the Rooney renaissance to continue against Sunderland.

WE ARE ONE week into the season and already there has probably been about €1,000,000 lost on failed accumulators. Thanks a lot, Van Gaal! Never fear, we’ve crunched the numbers after week one, and have come up with five bets that could make you some money.

I suppose, they might also lose you money, but at the very least you can peruse these and make an informed decision.

1. Southampton -1 vs West Brom (23/10)

After all the talk of a depleted Southampton possibly being a candidate for relegation, Ronald Koeman’s side delivered a classy and composed performance at Anfield. Sure, they lost 2-1, but Shane Long had a great chance to earn his side a deserved point.

They host West Brom this Saturday, and have a brilliant opportunity to climb back up the table. Dusan Tadic was lively for Southampton and if this goal is anything to go by, they might be a lot more competitive than many gave them credit for before the season started.

2. Chelsea -2 vs Leicester (6/4)

I understand that Leicester were pretty good against Everton but Chelsea were in ominous form against Burnley. Cesc Fabregas, Andre Schurrle and Diego Costa linked very well last Monday and with another newly promoted side on the menu, a three goal win is very plausible.

Also, Jose Mourinho’s great home unbeaten streak with Chelsea was ended by Sunderland towards the end of last season. Expect him to demand they reassert their dominance at Stamford Bridge immediately.

3. Man United to win and Rooney to score anytime (15/8)

United might have started the season poorly but Wayne Rooney was lively. He scored his first goal of the season and also clipped the post with a sumptuous free kick. Let’s also take a moment to remember who tipped him to get over 15.5 goals at 5/6. Louis van Gaal has had another week to impose his system on the players, which should result in a better performance when they go to Sunderland.

4. Liverpool and Man City to draw (11/4)

Man City will likely win this game but 5/6 is a very short price, as is Liverpool to win/draw at 10/11. This is a good bet if you think the game will be close, because you can win a tidy sum for a relatively small steak.

The great shame here is that Mario Balotelli can’t feature, because that first goalscorer bet would have been a lot of fun.

5. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Swansea and Spurs all to win (6 and a bit/1)

Your weekend wouldn’t be complete without an accumulator tip that is almost certain to fail. But, Villa impressed last week and host a weak Newcastle side, Chelsea and Spurs look to be bankers and Swansea just won at Old Trafford. Surely worth a fiver, no?
