As someone who has lived in Turkey for a long time and knows the Turkish league, this is an interesting move. Keane will be taking over at a club that has won almost next to nothing, save the odd division two title, but are connected to the ruling government party (their stadium is called after the current prime minister) and have money to spend. To answer the question is it a good move for Keane? Difficult one to answer, the standard of the Turkish league is quite decent but Kasımpaşa have sacked the manager that guided them out of division two last year and to a win over Fenerbahçe last week so there will be a lot of expectation on Keane’s shoulders. There is a high turnover of foreign coaches in Turkey and it is not the easiest place to get established in. I wish him well but wouldn’t be too sure he’ll be here for that long.

Not gone on the fella but one thing I will say, I think he will be a good manager, a very good manager, he seems a very very determined man, its not uncommon for a manager to start off bad and become one of the best just like in any aspect of life! He has a strong mind and thats 3/4 the battle i think! Other than that I couldn’t care less

Keane is one of the most successful Irish footballers of all time , the heartbeat of man utd for a decade , winning titles and leaving the team to success year after year as captain , then as irish captain he upset the inflatable hammer brigade by demanding high standards for the Irish team , Boo we don’t love you for that , his move from player into management hasn’t worked out , he’s a knowledgeable pundit but craves something more of a demanding role , he might give this a go and I wish him well , if he sticks at it and it works out he might get another crack at premiership mgt level in years ahead , if that worked Ireland would knock on his door to manage the International team, and the inflatable hammers would be cheering him on again ,football , bloody hell…

Is there anywhere further away that he could go ? He’ll probably be back by Christmas, still its a great opportunity for out of work footballers from the Championship to pick up decent contracts. When he left Sunderland, the 1st team squad had around 44 players and they spent about 18 months trying offload them after Keane left. I wonder if they have a big training ground at Kasimpasa. ?
