Poll: who will win the Rugby World Cup?

The tournament kicks off this morning in New Zealand. Which country will be celebrating in six weeks’ time?

THE WORLD CUP will at last kick off this morning.

Host nation New Zealand take on Tonga in the tournament opener.

Tomorrow the likes of Scotland, Argentina, England and France get their bid for glory underway.

Sunday sees Australia take on Italy and Wales face champions South Africa.

Oh… Ireland also get going with a game against Eddie O’Sullivan’s US Eagles in New Plymouth.

We’ll liveblog that and every other game over the coming six weeks. But who will be celebrating at the end of it all?

    But since i live in Ireland (Originally from Fiji) I will be cheering for Ireland. Heading down there soon, gonna be waving the tricolour flag in Auckland :)

    a lot of optimistic Irish men out there….agh shur why not? We’ve nothing to loose I suppose but we will need someone to take care of NZ for us, but on our day we can beat any other nation at the competition.

    Personally, I think we should ban the haka, it is a war dance, it is supposed to be about sport.
    Look what happened last time with Brian O’Driscol.
    This would clearly effect their morale.
    P.S. Got to admit… it does look the biz.

    Banning the haka because of what happened to BOD would be the equivalent of banning 100m in the Olympics because athletes have pulled hamstrings

    More than 3600 participants tipped the All Blacks on sportsprophet.ie at the start of the year so I guess we’ll have to go with them too!

    I can’t help but think that home advantage will be enough to get NZ over the line. They’ve been deserving favourites for the last three or four tournaments and really ought to finally put one away.
