Pirlo was amazing he carried an Italian team that played above themselves and confounding all their critics. Great defence. but no Pirlo no final for Italy. As important as iniesta was , if he was missing, Spain would still make final , but iniesta is a world class player

Jordi Alba was an absolute revelation, even surprising some of his team mates with his stellar performances. Spains defence is largely neglected but their record of clean sheets in knock-out stages is amazing. Kudos to Ramos also. Cant wait to see Alba on the left and Alvez on the right bombing forward for Barca next season. Boring,.. me arse!

Personally can’t believe more people in the poll picked Ozil ahead of Iniesta,,he had a very average tournament by his usual high standards,the tournament was filled with sone great performances from the top players,,Ramos was a revelation beside Pique at centre back both are still only mid 20′s,Coentrao was excellent,Pirlo,Xavi and Iniesta were the stars of the tournament,I know it’s cliched but if ya want to show or coach youngsters in how to play football then watch these three players,,their touch,control,vision and passing is superior to any other midfielder playing at the minute,,,roll on the champions league!!!

Pirlo was undeniably class up until that last match. I think Italy put too much on him considering he’s a older footballer and that’s why he burned out.
