It’s not about how many days work he does, it’s about the quality of his work. This country will benefit enormously from qualifying for the euros for first time in 24 years. We will earn a load of money from tv rights, friendly matches before euros, merchandise sales, pubs will see an increase in sales etc etc. look at the bigger picture and stop obsessing about his salary. The main thing is this…. His salary is only a small proportion of the revenue he brings in, let alone the value to the morale of this country. I’d much rather Don Gio on 1.5m, than Staunton on 400k.

In 12 matches at our 3 finals between 88 and 94 we managed a paltry 6 goals, which is a poor reflection on the tactics adopted by Jack especially given the talent we had. I have a feeling that it will be pretty similar next summer, though with a much less gifted squad.
