Poll: should Trap get a contract extension?

Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni is keen to stay on for another qualification campaign. Does he deserve the contract?

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI WANTS to remain on as manager of Ireland’s national football team.

Though the Italian is keen to extend his stay into a third campaign, FAI bosses are waiting to see how the Euro2012 qualifying bid works out for the Boys in Green.

Ireland drew 0-0 in Russia despite a 90-minute onslaught from the hosts on Tuesday. Later, Armenia blew Group B wide open with an incredible 4-0 win in Slovakia.

Yesterday, Trap seemed to send a shot across the bows, reminding John Delaney – in a press conference with the soccer writers – that he may have other options.

There have not yet been any discussions with Abbotstown chiefs and the fate of Trap and his backroom team is dependent on the next two games: Andorra and those Armenians.

But what do you think? Should Trap get the contract he wants?

Poll Results:

Let's wait until after Armenia (492)
We need to change it up (366)
He deserves another shot, no matter what happens (305)
Don't care (95)
