Poll: Has the Rugby World Cup lived up to expectations?

Some critics suggest the final constitutes an anti-climax, however there have been memorable moments over the course of the tournament.

THERE HAS UNDOUBTEDLY been some memorable moments in this year’s Rugby World Cup.

The drama and excitement of Wales-South Africa, New Zealand’s consummate defeat of Australia and Ireland’s shock win (also) against Australia are three such moments.

However, there have also been grumblings that the tournament has been somewhat of a disappointment.

While some of the lower-tier nations, most notably Samoa, displayed promise, the quarter-final stages had an all-too-familiar look about them.

Moreover, given the nature of France’s defeat against Wales, many are calling the final an anti-climactic foregone conclusion, in addition to accusing France of being undeserving finalists.

But what do you think? Has this year’s Rugby World Cup lived up to expectations?

Poll Results:

It's been good, but us making it to the semis would have made it great. (488)

If I could forget the extremely low expectations going into the tournament I may have said I was disappointed with France being in the final but the fact it produced one of the most memorable games for me, Ireland v Australia, makes it the best tournament yet and winning the group when I thought we would really struggle

been a disappointing tournament littered with bad refereeing decisions.
France lost 2 games and still made the final which means the quality wasnt there really.
teams under-performing wen it came to the quarters,,,Ireland…south africa,..England.
New zealand will win…without a true test.

In 2007 Jake White said ‘defences win
WC’s', he’s right. Tis a pity the WC has been dominated by No.7′s & the battle at the breakdown, it’s an acquired taste to enjoy those tussles. I’d give my player of the tournament to Israel Dagg rather than some groundhog. You won’t see kids running out trying to emulate Pocock, I hope not.

So it’s Alan rollands fault that wales couldn take their penalties and conversions or had the balls to attempt a drop goal.
