GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI HAS named his side for the Euro 2012 play-off ties next month. It could be
Ireland face Estonia over two legs – the first in Tallinn’s A. Le Coq Arena on 11 November with the return fixture in Dublin four days later.

This morning in Abbotstown, Trap released the names of the 26-man panel for the job.
Despite various bans and injuries, Shane Long, Kevin Doyle and skipper Robbie Keane are all included while in-form Newcastle man Leon Best and Celtic striker Athony Stokes are ignored.
Darron Gibson and Paul McShane are recalled after sitting out the final qualifiers against Armenia and Andorra.
These ties could be the Italian’s last in charge of the Boys in Green – or indeed his ticket to another major championships. So did he get this decision right?
Poll Results:
Definitely not, he should have given other lads a shot (199)
I reckon Trap will get us to the Finals but we cant turn up to Poland Ukraine peddling that shite.. Sack him in November, get Martin O Neill in and bring back a few footballers.. Id rather play ball and lose victoriously than sully our reputation even further
traps persistence with whelan n andrews who wer outplayed n outmanouvered by the powerhouses of andorra n armenia is the f**kin thing that mystifies me m8..at least gibsons played at the highest level and is a bit more creative and he can score a goal…get off gibsons back n giv the lad a chance
Paul Mcshane is an accident waiting to happen..i still blame him for henry’s goal..letting the ball bounce wen he shud have got rid…
he wont play Coleman despite him being ace…if coleman was english he wud probably be in their first team..
Well done Trap. We haven’t qualified for the euros since 1988. We will undoubtably beat Estonia and the country will get a welcome positive boost this summer. We had never qualified for a major tournament before big jack arrived on the scene and changed the way we played. We now have some unbelievable memories of those tournaments. That wasn’t pretty football either. Trap for president ;)
Plenty of others that could be included , Ireland , stokes, Colman , Reid (andy) they do have ability on the ball can’t say the same for whelan, Andrews , Macshane .
Ireland is retired. His choice not ours. He hasn’t performed in a few years now.
Coleman isn’t ready. He will be for the next campaign. He will take Duff’s position.
Andy Reid couldn’t run from the 6 yard box to the goal line. Fat mess.
I suggest you watch some current games if that’s what you come up with.
Stick with what ya know at this stage. Not the time for experimenting. Maybe ease them in during the next batch of friendlies in time for the summer. Although trap won’t change even then.
You don’t change systems in the middle of a campaign. Trap has got us this far and deserves all the praise in the world. This country doesn’t deserve a good football team. There is a select group of brilliant fans who back the team, but the majority are moanbags who know nothing about football. Trap has improved our ranking and thus our seeding for future tournaments.
But by all means give Stan a call. He’ll play attractive football.
Gibson? No playing time this season worth talking about but on balance he is a good player and can score from long distance. McShane? Not sure why he keeps picking him, he is just not up to the job. Long has no chance of being fit so Best or even Stokes should have been included. Hoolihan and Tierney of Norwich look like they are been ignored despite playing premier league football week in week out. Haven’t seen much of Duff of late either?
Keane is not fit and could be a risk up front if that’s the case. I think Leon Best should be in that squad but it’s the midfield and the defence that Ireland need to get right because the Estonians are no pushover and they are fast and good at getting the ball into the opposition half, something our defenders are not brilliant at dealing with!
