2013 CLARE ALL-IRELAND winner Podge Collins lines out with his Cratloe teammates in the AIB Munster senior club hurling final next Sunday.
After the disappointment of last Sunday’s Munster football defeat, Cratloe are getting set for a first ever provincial senior hurling final.
There’s a feel-good factor about the Clare club but we wanted Collins to dish the dirt and tell us what he really thinks of his teammates.
*****************
1. Toughest?
“Johnny Gorman. He’s not really starting this year but he’s a really good player. He’s a tough corner-back, you don’t want to be on him in training!”
2. Fastest?
“Ogie Murphy was up until a few years ago but he’s after getting old! Probably Conor McGrath or my brother Sean, they’d both be pretty quick.”
3. Slowest?
“Mikey Hawes, yeah probably Mikey.”
4. Biggest messer in the dressing-room?
“Biggest messer, I’d say Thomas O’Connor. He’s always messing and joking. Some of them wouldn’t be too funny but he thinks they’re good alright.”
5. Most skilful?
“Cathal McInerney or Conor McGrath. For football and hurling. If they took up table tennis in the morning, they’d be the most skilful at that too.”
6. Most intelligent?
“Conor McGrath again or Liam Markham. Conor would probably edge it. Conor’s working with Deloitte in Limerick and Liam’s below in EMC in Cork.”
7. Butt of the jokes in the squad?
“My brother Sean gets a bit of a doing alright so it’d probably be him.”
8. Worst dress sense?
“Sean again for that one!”
9. Worst dancer?
“Probably Thomas O’Connor.”
10. Biggest leader and motivator?
“Liam Markham this year has been very good.”
11. Best trainer?
“Conor Ryan is a very good trainer now in fairness.”
12. Worst trainer?
“Jeez there’s a few there. But Cathal McInerney will get that one. He won’t like it but he deserves it.”
