Ticket Rush

Planning on travelling to Euro 2012? Here's how you can apply for tickets

The FAI has announced a set of loyalty criteria for fans hoping to travel to Poland and Ukraine next summer.

WITH THE DEMAND for tickets for next summer’s European Championships sure to outstrip supply, the FAI has confirmed details of the application process for Irish fans hoping to travel.

Between 6,000 and 10,000 tickets will be made available to Irish supporters for each game, depending on which of the four groups Giovanni Trapattoni’s team are drawn in.

And to ensure that the country’s core of regular fans do not miss out in the inevitable ticket rush, the FAI has announced a set of loyalty criteria for ticket sales.

The application process for Irish fans opens on UEFA.com on 12 December at 9am and will remain open until midnight on 29 February next year. Applications will be limited to two tickets per person.

Access will be restricted to those supporters who attended away matches during Euro 2012 qualification, Vantage Club members, FAI season ticket holders for 2011/12, and active block bookers.

Fans who do not meet these criteria will have the option of booking packages through Abbey Travel, the FAI’s official partner; through Thomson Sport, the licensed travel partner of Euro 2012; or by applying to the UEFA resale portal which will redistribute returned tickets.

In order to minimise the amount of tickets for the knockout phases changing hands on the black market, a voucher scheme has been created which will allow fans to buy tickets for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final should Ireland qualify.

If Ireland fail to make it out of the group stages, the voucher will become invalid and the admission price will be refunded.

The draw for the group stages takes place next Friday, 2 December, in Kiev. Groups A and C will be based in Poland while teams in Groups B and D will play their matches in Ukraine.
