'For as long as I'm playing I'll love to play for Ireland' - Stringer not closing the door

The vastly experienced scrum-half says he feels fit enough to continue for a couple more year.

AT 36, PETER Stringer is still going strong at Premiership side Bath.

In a interview with the IRB’s Total Rugby, the scrum-half talks about his relationship with team-mate George Ford, past glories with Munster, a possible future in coaching and his eagerness to leave the door open on his Ireland career.

Feel that he deserves his 100th cap for Ireland if he’s still going for Argentina in the summer

Still one of the fastest to get to a ruck and a class flat pass. Reads the game better than most and has saved many a try with that tap tackle of his.

World Cup coming up so there is no point in him going to Argentina . We need blood players not just hand out two caps so a guy gets to a hundred. Love stringer tho and he was my next door neighbour in cork once :)

Well, it is pure and simple. Joe, bring him back. He can stay at Bath, judging by how happy he is there. But at this point, he and Murray are still the best of two of Ireland’s scrumhalves.

Stringer and O’Gara , gave so much pleasure to Irish rugby supporters throughout the years. Wish him well and if at all possible another cap. One of the reasons I follow Bath.

Shane..Not disputing he was good in his day but I’m afraid his day has passed.. Plenty of Respect for the lad! Yes have watched him, playing well. But the last thing we want from our national coach is to act like a charity and hand out caps to a 36 yr old for nostalgic reasons.. Time to plan for the future.. Marmion, Mcgrath etc!

Will you lot catch yourself on, he was past it 3 years ago, wouldn’t have him in the top 5 in Ireland.. Murray, Reddan, Marmion, Boss and Marshall are streets ahead! Why revert back to a has been:)

Marc, I strongly disagree with your opinion. In all honesty, have you been watching him play since he joined Bath? He has been playing some great rugby and I would have him ahead of Marmion, Boss & Marshall. ‘Why revert back to a has been’, show the guy more respect please. He certainly deserves it!
