Mahony the scoring star once more for Waterford as they claim victory against Dublin

Derek McGrath’s side triumphed in Walsh Park today.

Waterford 1-13
Dublin 1-10

WATERFORD COMPLETED BACK-to-back home wins in Division 1 of the hurling league with success against Dublin in Walsh Park this afternoon.

Pauric Mahony, who shot 0-11 the last time out against Galway, again spearheaded their scoring drive as the recent WIT Fitzgibbon Cup winner scored 1-8 for his side.

Both teams had players dismissed with Michael Walsh sent off before half-time for Waterford and Conor McCormack seeing red in the closing stages for Dublin.

Mahony shot to the net in the 23rd minute to help the Deise lead by 1-10 to 0-8 at the break.

Despite the setback of losing Walsh, they picked off points from the likes of Mahony, Brian O’Sullivan and Jake Dillon to go seven points clear entering the closing stages of the game.

Dublin got a lifeline through a late goal from Conal Keaney but they could not prevent defeat as Waterford ultimately claimed the honours.
