Memorable Paul O'Connell pic wins Sports Action prize at PPAI awards

In addition, Paul Mohan of Sportsfile claimed first prize in the Sports Feature category for his ‘Only a few laps to go’ image

THE PRESS PHOTOGRAPHERS Association of Ireland (PPAI) awards took place last night, with some of the year’s most iconic images on display.

In the Sports Action category, Dan Sheridan of Inpho Photography’s shot of Paul O’Connell looking typically determined amid a fierce battle with Edinburgh won first prize. Alan Place of Alan Place Photography came second for his ‘Memorial Dive’ image, while Stephen McCarthy of Sportsfile placed third with his shot of a group of sprinters who are just after having started a race.

In addition, Paul Mohan of Sportsfile claimed first prize in the Sports Feature category for his ‘Only a few laps to go’ image, while Cathal Noonan of Inpho Photogrpahy was second for his shot of Clontarf rugby players immersed in steamy surroundings, and Mohan again was third for his pic of the Galway players’ reaction to their All-Ireland senior camogie final win.

More info from the event can be found on the PPAI’s Twitter stream.
