CORK ALL-STAR Paudie Kissane has retired from inter-county football.
Kissane, who won an All-Ireland title with the Rebels in 2010, announced his decision in Wednesday’s Irish Examiner.
“People say to me ‘Jesus, you make great sacrifices’. But I never saw it as sacrifices,” the Clyda Rovers clubman said. “I did it because I genuinely wanted to do it.”
Kissane, 33, made his debut in 2002 but had to wait until 2008 for his first Championship appearance.
He became a regular in defence as Cork won three Division 1 league titles and three Munster championships.
But the highlight of his career came in 2010 when Cork beat Down in the All-Ireland final and he earned an All-Star.
The Cork County Board thanked him for his “outstanding contribution” to the county’s cause.
