PICTURE THE SCENE. Parnells were hanging on to a three-point lead at the end of last Saturday’s Dublin Senior B hurling championship final.

Opponents Ballyboden St Enda’s were awarded a 20-yard free at the end in Parnell Park as they trailed 1-16 to 2-10.

Conor Dooley steps up and smashes in a shot which was initially blocked before the ball was bundled to the net.

Dramatic equalising score? Unfortunately not for Ballyboden St Enda’s as the referee blew the full-time whistle after Dooley’s initial shot was saved and Parnell’s celebrated claiming the county title.

Shades of Kilkenny and Waterford’s meeting during the summer when Matthew Ruth’s point which looked like the winning score at the end of normal time was disallowed as the final whistle had been blown before he shot.
