VIDEO: Magical McCourt runs rings around the Doncaster defence

The Derry Pele seemed to have the ball glued to his foot yesterday.

PADDY MCCOURT IS a defender’s nightmare.

The former Shamrock Rovers and Derry City winger scored a bit of a wonder goal for Barnsley two weeks ago and was in flying form again against Doncaster.

While he didn’t manage to get his name on the scoresheet in the 0-0 draw, he left several opponents red-faced with his dazzling dribbling ability.

Where did it all go wrong for Roy Keane and Martin O’Neill at club level?

A joke and a smile as O’Neill opens Ireland reign on a bright note

I know paddy reasonably well. He is unbelievably talented but his attitude, lifestyle and injuries have let him down. He’s a top guy and if he had of disciplined himself he would have been a regular in the EPL.

What a wasted career. 30 next month and what does he have to show for it?

Probably a healthy bank balance and a life he’s thoroughly enjoyed.

“Career” being the operative word. Didn’t mention anything about his life.

And I sincerely doubt he is set for life from earning about 5k a week at Celtic and Barnsley for a sum total of half a dozen years.

Well he had a “skill set” as a footballer that you or I didn’t have
Well I didn’t have at any rate
What about yourself ? Maybe you were potentially as good as him.
As another poster said he might have been very happy with his life !
A career is only a component, and a short one at that, of life.Believe me I’ve done all that career stuff .

I’m fairly sure McCourt had a lot of injuries in his career so I’d say he probably wanted to play a lot more games but just wasn’t able

I know quite a lot players with plenty of as you say no “pace” but no skill.
    Which would you prefer
    Pace with no skill
    Or
    Skill with no pace
    A bit of a conundrum !
Good man Paddy was there to see your cameo role in Hampden in May
Gave plenty entertainment and caused plenty frustration in equal measure – but Celtic fans still idolised you
