Open thread: who do you think will win the FA Cup final?

Will Kenny Dalglish mastermind a second trophy of the season or can Chelsea warm up for Munich with a famous cup victory?

WHO SAYS ROMANCE is dead?

Liverpool and Chelsea face off in the FA Cup final for the first time at — the admittedly weird time of — 5.15pm.

Didier Drogba will likely get the nod to lead the line ahead of former Kop favourite Fernando Torres while the likes of  Gary Cahill and David Luiz are struggling with hamstring injuries and missed training yesterday, meaning Roberto di Matteo’s defensive options may be narrowed.

Long-term midfield absentees Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam are Liverpool’s only injury concerns however though Kenny Dalglish slammed the players he picked in the defeat to Fulham for not taking the opportunity to push for selection in Saturday’s final.

Dalglish selected a second-string team with only Andy Carroll and Dirk Kuyt having a decent chance of starting against Chelsea.  Striker Luis Suarez and captain Steven Gerrard are set to return after missing the game.

So, who do you reckon will come out on top? Let us know in the comment section below…

Have a feeling Liverpool the “cup specialists”, since 1990, will win this one.
If I was RDM I’d start with Torres and Drog and leave Sturridge & Kalou on the bench.

  • Liverpool and Chelsea in a cup game….luck seems to fall in Liverpools favour usually.
Chelsea are a better team but I see Liverpool winning it. Not sure why, I just do. It’ll give a temporary shine to a dreadful season (let’s not pretend the carling cup is worth much).
Chelsea may have one eye on the champions league final and also still battling for fourth place (ironically playing Liverpool on Tuesday). Liverpool have nothing else to play for so I see them mentally more up for it.
    2-1 Liverpool.
