SIMON COX HAS agreed to join Nottingham Forest, the player confirmed today.
The 25-year-old English-born striker featured for Giovanni Trapattoni’s side at Euro 2012 but has been out of favour at West Brom for some time.
And with the Baggies bringing in Romelu Lukaku and Markus Rosenburg to join Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long, a move away from the Hawthorns was expected.
A number of Championships clubs including Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough were believed to be interested in his signature but Forest, now managed by former Ireland international Sean O’Driscoll, have won the race for his signature.
On Twitter today, Cox said: “Think I’m all done now. Signed now. Can’t wait to get started and exciting times ahead. #nffc
I would like to thank all the fans and players and staff at WBA for my time there loved it. Met some lovely people. Wish u all the best.”
Great move for him. Could well be a starting Premier league striker this time next year…
I hope you’re right Marty but that leaves Ireland with two established premier league strikers. Still I suppose it’s better to be a championship striker who actually plays than a premier league striker who doesn’t.
