MICK O’DOWD HAS been unanimously elected as the new Meath manager, while Frank Dawson has taken over at Antrim, it has been confirmed this evening.

O’Dowd has signed on a three-year term, with Trevor Giles and Sean Kelly forming part of the backroom team.

He previosly coached Skryne to win the 2004 Meath senior title, and takes over from Seamus McEnaney, who left the position in August.

Meanwhile, Dawson has also been ratified as Antrim boss this evening, succeeding Liam Bradley in the position.

Following his appointment to the role, he said:

“It is an honour to be appointed manager to any inter county team and when it is your own county then that is special.

“I know there is a very good crop of players there at the minute and I am looking forward to getting to work. Liam Bradley brought Antrim on significantly during the last four years and I intend to build on that success.”

Cathal Murray and Kevin Murray are also on board as part of the backroom team.

  • Donegal have set the bar very high and should provide a good template for these so called lesser teams to follow. It’s hard work and honesty to the county colours and I have full admiration for any player that commits to this

  • Glad to see Micko back in inter county football. He’s bound to bring back the glory days to Meath after all the success he had in the past with Kerry, Kildare etc. He looks to have aged a bit though…
