Now Gary Cahill is out of England's injury-ravaged Euro 2012 squad

The former Bolton man was hurt in a collision with his own goalkeeper Joe Hart during the 1-0 win over Belgium at Wembley yesterday.

CHELSEA CENTRE-HALF Gary Cahill has been ruled out of Englandโ€™s Euro 2012 campaign with a double fracture of the jaw, the Football Association announced today.

The former Bolton man was injured in a collision with his own goalkeeper Joe Hart during the 1-0 win over Belgium at Wembley yesterday.

A scan today revealed the extent of the damage and he joins the likes of Frank Lampard as late injury withdrawals.

Manager Roy Hodgson has called up young Liverpool defender Martin Kelly as a replacement.  Former skipper Rio Ferdinand has been snubbed โ€” having been told that he was excluded from the original squad for โ€˜footballing reasonsโ€™.

John Terry will face charges that he allegedly racially abused Anton Ferdinand, a brother of the Manchester United star, in a game with QPR last October. Rio Ferdinand tweeted: โ€œWhat reasons????!!!!โ€ moments after the decision to call on Kelly was made public.

โ€œGary Cahill has been withdrawn from Englandโ€™s Euro 2012 squad following the injury he suffered in the match against Belgium,โ€ the FA statement reads.

โ€œThe Chelsea defender has two fractures of his jaw, one either side. The England medical team have been in close contact overnight with Cahillโ€™s club doctors who will treat him moving forward. Liverpool defender Martin Kelly will be called into the squad โ€” subject to agreement from UEFAโ€™s medical team.

โ€œKelly trained with the England players last week and was part of the group that travelled to Norway (where England won 1-0 in Oslo to give Hodgson a win in his first game as England boss).โ€

Some good news on the injury front did arrive Sunday when Terry, Cahillโ€™s Chelsea and England central defensive colleague, was passed fit โ€” for the time being at least โ€” after suffering a hamstring problem against Belgium.

โ€œJohn Terry has been scanned this morning and given the all-clear,โ€ the FA said. โ€œHe will be re-assessed on Tuesday when the team regroup.โ€

Saturdayโ€™s match was Englandโ€™s last before they begin their Euro 2012 Group D campaign against France in Donetsk on 11 June.
