THE FAI HAS confirmed that striker Robbie Keane has been given the all-clear after he went for a scan on his hamstring.
A report on Keane’s suspect fitness in the Irish Daily Star on Saturday morning had football fans reaching for their rosary beads.
The country’s leading scorer played for his club side, LA Galaxy, last weekend but was listed as a major doubt for their match with Chivas on Saturday night.
“I am having a scan on the hamstring but it is only a bit of a strain,” Keane told the newspaper. “I don’t think it is too bad.”
Thankfully for Keane, and Ireland, the results of the scan were positive. An FAI spokesperson confirmed to TheScore.ie:
Robbie Keane’s scan result came through today and showed all-clear with no sign of any tear or blood.
“He will be assessed when he comes in (for international duty) and should be fine,” the spokesperson added.
It is expected that Keane will line out for Ireland in their friendly match against Bosnia on 26 May.
