THE FAI HAS moved to play down reports of an alleged bust-up at the Ireland team hotel, backing assistant manager Roy Keane in the process.

Keane was understood to have been involved in an incident at the Ireland team’s hotel last night.
A statement released from the association on Wednesday night reads as follows:
“Following inaccurate media reports which refer to an incident involving a member of the public this evening at the Republic of Ireland team hotel, we wish to clarify that Roy Keane called the Gardai following the incident. The manager, Martin O’Neill and the FAI are fully aware of the circumstances surrounding this event, and the Assistant Manager has their full support.”
It was previously reported that a complaint had been issued after the gardaí and ambulance were both understood to have been called to the Ireland team’s Portmarnock Hotel in Dublin at late afternoon on Wednesday.
A gardaí spokesperson confirmed to TheScore.ie that an “incident had occurred” and that “no complaint had been issued” by the person involved.
The team are set to fly out to Glasgow today as their preparations for the vital match continue.
James you’re spot on and I don’t see how anyone could dispute your point. He is a generally angry and volatile man. That’s a fact and something he probably wouldn’t even deny. The blind support by journal readers of this man is cringe inducing. By all means support him, but to red arrow the truth and then not comment as to where the statement isn’t true, except one person calling James an “idiot”, is pathetic to say the least.
The guy on Vincent Browne has just said that this is a story blown out of proportion just to sell newspapers. I guess the people that buy these rags are the ones that jump to conclusions without hearing the facts.
This is not the Kardashians, it’s real life. The chap stands by his principles and he’s continuously vilified for it. No wonder society is in such a mess. I don’t know the facts, however I’ll withhold judgement until I do. The FAI have already released a statement acknowledging it and supporting Keane. Unlike them.
Maria, I have no opinion on Roy Keane. But the man you called an idiot knows more about Roy Keane than you know about the man you’ve just called an idiot. You should take your own advice.
Even if a person has a history like Roy’s, you should always wait for the facts before you judge the situation. Stick to your guns Maria. You’re the Roy Keane of this thread.
It’s not just journal readers, who think the sun shines out of his ar€e, all Irish media do and it’s extremely cringe inducing.Heres one for you from newstalks of the ball crowd. Aston Villa win first 4 games, it must be the Keano factor, they lose next 6 on the trot not a word, suddenly Lamberts under pressure, that’s just a taste from the Roy Keane appreciation society.
It was some fool pissed annoying Keane and Keane reacted . The team walked by me earlier on the beach and Keane was talkin to everyone who asked for photos , it was waiting to happen Keane doesn’t take shit off anyone ! And a lot of idiots abuse him for no reason !
Threw some stranger over a table after an exchange of words apparently..He’s still in hospital.Good man Keano, taking the focus off the team and putting the heat on himself.Mourinho would be proud!!
Apparently it was a man who was known to Keane and wrote stuff about him in the past. Why he was in the Irish teams hotel looking for Keane to sign his autobiography is beyond me? Looking to cause trouble if you ask me.
Nope. I appreciated how mature he was in his response to Keane’s statement in his former memoir. It was very considered and thoughtful. A grown man taking the high road. Nice to see.
Ha,that was entertaining,Maria the keano fan vs the world. He’s a legend on the pitch to me but I cringe at every sour extract that pop up these days. But I’d say tonight it was just some dick looking for attention, judging by reports.
Ah Davin, sure there’s bigger problems in the world. If this is what antagonises and lights the fire in people’s bellies then jaysus the world is f***ed. Good fun tho as a prong.
At the end of the day , the question has to be . Why you Roy ?
It has to always be about Roy , at the same stage before an
European Qualifying game last month Roy launched his book .
This time he isn’t interested in his book any more and a poor
man finishes up in hospital.
The idiots of the FAI. allowed him back in after Saipan and Roy
pays them back in spades .
Great past player on the field and greet soccer brain but the man is a monster. Don’t know all the facts yet but I’m sure no one would be surprised if he assaulted a member of the public in the hotel as some have said above . Should be arrested.

Great stuff from Roy, takes all the pressure off the players ahead of a massive game.
One angry man though – volatile to say the least.
Way to wait for the facts. Idiot.
@Maria Byrne
I wasn’t referring to the incident but to Keane’s previous behaviour. I will have the manners not to call you an idiot though.
Read it again Maria.
And ill reiterate my point. Way to wait for the facts. :)
Read my comment Maria. I’ve clearly made a statement that outside this incident I think he is an angry man – the hint is in the word ‘though’.
Gggrrrrrrrrrrr anger!!!
Who am I to want facts to get in the way. Jaysus the Daily Mail hasn’t a patch on u :)
The guy on Vincent Browne has just said that this is a story blown out of proportion just to sell newspapers. I guess the people that buy these rags are the ones that jump to conclusions without hearing the facts.
Maria , you still don’t get it do you ?
This is not the Kardashians, it’s real life. The chap stands by his principles and he’s continuously vilified for it. No wonder society is in such a mess. I don’t know the facts, however I’ll withhold judgement until I do. The FAI have already released a statement acknowledging it and supporting Keane. Unlike them.
Joan, http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8cT_Ulmcrys :)
Regardless , he still got into a row again , there is such as ” a time and a place ” which he clearly doesn’t get , so you carry on there maria !
Oh gawd Joan. Yawn.
Maria, I have no opinion on Roy Keane. But the man you called an idiot knows more about Roy Keane than you know about the man you’ve just called an idiot. You should take your own advice.
Ok Jack.
Dope
Sure
Cowardly
Are you for real Maria! Cop on!!
Maria,
What does ‘way to wait for the facts’ mean? You said it twice. Then you called someone an idiot…
I don’t think Maria gets it. Bless.
Ah shut up
Roy was lucky he could play football, otherwise he would have spent most of his life in jail.
Maria, do you have a bit of a soft spot for Roy?
Jaysus who did Maria murder?

It was some fool pissed annoying Keane and Keane reacted . The team walked by me earlier on the beach and Keane was talkin to everyone who asked for photos , it was waiting to happen Keane doesn’t take shit off anyone ! And a lot of idiots abuse him for no reason !
Let’s hope the players show the same fight on Friday night!!! HON YBIG!!!
I have it on good authority that Roy Keanes beard went ballistic and trashed a hotel room when it found out that it wouldn’t be getting a testimonial.
Rumor has it that Roy Keane punched a fan outside the hotel :) I smell a 3rd autobiography coming.
Get your facts right.
Oh really Dylan. Great to know :)
You’re welcome
Ada boy dylan good to see you back man
You’re the greatest Dylan
You too Sean. Good to be back Kieran.

DANGER HERE !!
Hopefully it was Dumphy sneaking in to try make Whelan’s injury last until Sunday.
Cognac bottle to the side of the dome would do the trick.
Sadly hitting Dunphy in the head will not bring results
Daily record rag says keane put a fan in hospital. But they say it was last night. Confused.
Probably published online tonight but written for the rag tomorrow in print.
Wouldn’t believe the date in the daily record
The lad they sent in was supposed to go in last night, can’t get good help nowadays.
Good old Roy.
Apparently it was a man who was known to Keane and wrote stuff about him in the past. Why he was in the Irish teams hotel looking for Keane to sign his autobiography is beyond me? Looking to cause trouble if you ask me.
Jesus! Dunphy ?!
Roy at it again.
Heard it was Alan McLoughlan looking for Roy to sign his Autobiography that nobody will read.
Did u actually read McLoughlins opinion?
Are you knocking Alan McLoughlin?! Short memory…
Nope. I appreciated how mature he was in his response to Keane’s statement in his former memoir. It was very considered and thoughtful. A grown man taking the high road. Nice to see.
Jeez Maria, they are all against you tonight! You can’t say anything right without all the thumbers turning on you
Keith, it’s entertaining. It’s akin to listening to ridiculous evening ‘radio shows’. Tho one does hurt my brain. I enjoy this forum.
Ha,that was entertaining,Maria the keano fan vs the world. He’s a legend on the pitch to me but I cringe at every sour extract that pop up these days. But I’d say tonight it was just some dick looking for attention, judging by reports.
It’s all in good fun Maria.
Ah Davin, sure there’s bigger problems in the world. If this is what antagonises and lights the fire in people’s bellies then jaysus the world is f***ed. Good fun tho as a prong.
It is Keith :)
I will add tho. I’m not an overt Keane fan. Or anybodies. However I don’t agree with the crap that was said.
Good. Grown men should not be asking for autographs
Hopefully it was Gordon McQueen looking for keane to autograph his book and keane smashed him
Ah jaysus !! There’ll be a book about this next
Just waiting for the ” he ended alfie haalands career” lie
John Delaney said something stupid to him again
Reported in Indo son in law of well known entertainer asked him to sign his book. Roy refused and your man went ballistic and ripped up the book.

It’s confirmed this morning that it was Keane who called the Gardai
Window dressing/damage limitation strategy by FAI by asking Keane to call the cops..
Noggy, “A monster? why do you bother? You say you don’t know “all the facts”. How about you don’t know any of the facts
