NIGEL ADKINS WAS sacked — shockingly — by Southampton today despite guiding the Saints to back-to-back promotions and setting the club on track for Premier League survival.

But he left his players with a positive message on the dressing-room wall before he cleared out his office. It’s not bad advice.
