Newcastle’s Ranger bailed following assault enquiry

Twenty-year-old striker was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning.

NEWCASTLE UNITED STAR Nile Ranger was released on bail last night following his arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning, the BBC reports.

The striker was held by police who were investigating an assault outside a Newcastle pub that left a 33-year-old man unconscious.

The incident happened at 1.30am on Saturday morning. The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where he was treated for a suspected broken jaw.

Northumbria Police confirmed that Ranger, 20, had been released last night pending further inquiries.
