YOU KNOW IT’S World Cup time when Ossie Ardiles shows up in Dublin.

The World Cup winner with Argentina will return to bring a South American flavour to the national broadcaster’s coverage of Brazil 2014 this month, the station have announced.

Bill O’Herlihy will be joined for his last tournament before retirement by old friends John Giles, Eamon Dunphy and Liam Brady of course while young bucks Richie Sadlier, Didi Hamann and Kenny Cunningham join Ronnie Whelan in Montrose. Ray Houghton will co-commentate from Brazil.

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, American goalkeeper Brad Freidel and Real Madrid coach Paul Clement bring a fresh perspective to the panel.

“The whole world comes together to experience the World Cup and we are delighted to bring RTÉ audiences all of the action from Brazil, the very best analysis and a whole lot more, no matter where or how they choose to watch or listen,” said acting head of sport Cliona O’Leary.
