NEW JERSEY IS set to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2013, according to reports.
The US is already set to host its first Grand Prix since 2007 next year, with Austin, Texas the destination.
The news has yet to be confirmed by New Jersey governor Chris Christie, though New York mayor Felix Roque claims a deal has been arranged.
It was also indicated that the race will take place on a motorway, which runs alongside the Hudson River.
Speaking to reporters, Roque expressed excitement about the prospect of Formula 1 returning to the US, saying:
“It’s incredible. This is going to be an economic boom for this whole region.”
The most recent event that took place in the country was in Indianapolis, however its eight-year run ended there, after Bernie Ecclestone failed to agree new terms with US officials.
A press conference, during which it is anticipated that the deal will be confirmed, has been scheduled for today.
