I’d imagine he feels some shame on a personal level. For a boxer to get the shite thumped out of him is as much a bruise to the ego as body, perhaps even worse. However, I don’t know the full details involved. If he was trying to stop a fight between family members, as we’re told, then fair play. I’ve done it myself too and got and gave a few knocks in the process.
But the fact the Indo reported that the Nevin family and 2 other feuding travelling families were involved in a fight with up to 200 from the three families involved with all kinds of weapons cannot be brushed under the carpet.
He needs to make a statement clarifying his position and/or involvement or lack thereof. If he wasn’t involved in the feud then he should say so and keep his good name clean. If he was involved then he should say so like a man.

I lived the traveller/settled community friction for years and am glad there isn’t anything quite like that over here. There is a lot to be said for an armed police force but I’ve probably gone too far with this already. I was at John Joes first and only pro fight and can’t wait to see him fight again. Pretty shocking but he’s safer in Philly than he ever could be in Mullingar .
