Trainer Nicky Henderson had taken up the option of a jumpers bumper for his brilliant seven-year-old due to the seemingly never-ending barrage of bad weather and he will surely be delighted with his decision after his charge made light work of the all weather contest.
AP McCoy had made the trip to Kempton to ride his boss JP McManus’ charge and he again had his hands full early on, as My Tent Or Yours grabbed a strong hold of the bit stretching the Champion jockeys arms in mid division for much of the two-mile contest.
The pair would cruise to the front as the field turned into the home straight and pulled away from their rivals, allowing McCoy to take a sneaky look behind at the furlong pole, before rolling home a ready 4 1/2 length victor.
All roads lead to the Champion Hurdle now for the winner and trainer Henderson couldn’t be happier with the festival warm up: ”That was 100 per cent perfect, exactly what we wanted,” he said. “It is job done and now we can keep working away at home now. He was plenty keen enough and that was why we wanted to do this.
“Everyone can see he is in good health and ready to go. I would have been mortified if he had been stuffed.”
