MUNSTER HAVE WON in Perpignan before, and Rob Penney will be hoping his charges can repeat what Tony McGahan’s men did in 2009, when they produced an excellent performance to come away with a 37-14 victory.

Tries from Denis Fogarty, Denis Hurley, Jean de Villiers and Doug Howlett secured the bonus point, despite a yellow card for Ronan O’Gara in the second half. The atmosphere at the Stade Aimé Giral was typically seething in a bad-tempered affair the week after Perpignan’s young flanker, Yoann Vivalda, had likened Munster to an academy team.

Let’s hope we see a similarly high-quality performance from the southern province tomorrow.
