AFTER NARROWLY LOSING out to Offaly in today’s NFL Division 4 encounter with Offaly, Leitrim captain Emlyn Mulligan took to Twitter.

The talismanic forward first voiced his disappointment at losing, but followed up with an allegation of a disgusting act from an Offaly player.

See for yourself.

In the 0-9 to 0-8 loss to Offaly, both sides had players sent to the sidelines. The Faithful’s Peter Cunnigham was shown a straight card according to this onlooker.

With Mulligan calling for stiff sanctions from Croke Park, the CCCC will be anxiously awaiting the referee’s report from Sean Hurson.

  • Should be banned for life if there is truth in that. Never minding spitting and worse in a lads face, but to do it with a mouthful of blood is downright dangerous.

  • I had blood spat on my face after I went to the aid of a friend who had been attacked after a night out. It was a very scary time waiting for blood tests back! It’s a serious assault and should be treated very harshly by the police . The player who is alledged to have done this if found guilty should be banned from the gaa for life!!

  • That’s about as bad as it gets. What in God’s name would possess someone to do that. Hopefully a very long ban to follow

I think spitting at a player is disgusting but I find what Paraic Maher did to Michael Rice last year was even more disgusting. I’d say Rice would have taken being spat at over having his hand mangled and his hurling career in serious jeopardy. Both situations should be dealt with seriously and the players given lengthly bans.

Unacceptable but I wouldn’t like to see players using their Twitter accounts to highlight incidents becoming the thing to do. I think you will see the GAA move in swiftly to ban players using Twitter for instances like this.
