BOLTON WANDERERS HAVE released an update on Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muambaโs condition on their official website following the midfielderโs suddenly collapse against Tottenham on Saturday evening. It reads:
โFabrice Muamba remains in intensive care at The London Chest Hospital. He is continuing to show signs of improvement this evening.
โHe is now able to breathe independently without the aid of a ventilator. He has also been able to recognise family members and respond to questions appropriately.
โThese are all positive signs of progress. However, the medical staff in intensive care will continue to monitor and treat him.
โHis family and club would like to thank the media for continuing to respect their privacy at this time.โ
Earlier, a friend of Muamba said the Bolton midfielderโs family reported heโd started speaking again, two days after going into cardiac arrest during a match.
Curtis Codrington told The Associated Press after talking to Muambaโs family Monday that his friend had spoken โminimal words in English and French, which is better than nothing.โ
Codrington has been visiting Muamba in intensive care since the player collapsed during Saturdayโs match at Tottenham.
Earlier, the hospital said Muamba had begun to show โsmall signs of improvement.โ His heart started beating without the help of medication Monday and his arms and legs were moving. But the statement emphasised that he remained in critical condition.
In a joint statement with the hospital treating Muamba, the club said today he was also moving his arms and his legs.
But the statement cautions that โhis long-term prognosis will remain unclear for some time. He is still critically ill.โ
The midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup match at Tottenham on Saturday. The 23-year-oldโs heart started beating on its own again only when he arrived at a London hospitalโs heart attack unit Saturday night.
The playerโs fiancee has been issuing pleas on Twitter for the health of Muamba, who proposed on Valentineโs Day. The couple has a 3-year-old son, Joshua.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle said the former England under-21 player is putting up a โbrave fight,โ adding that the club had been inundated with messages of support, including from David Beckham.
โThere is a real hope he can come through this. When situations like this occur there is a real strength, a real unity, a real togetherness โฆ that has given (the family) an incredible energy,โ Coyle said outside the east London hospital. โThat source of energy that everyone is giving off is really bringing them together as a family and that is important for Fabriceโs well being.โ

What kind of sad people are giving red thumbs to this.
I wish there was some way The Journal could track down the two Cretins who have red thumbed tersargeโs post here and have them outed in some way.
Who cares about red thumbs
When two small buttons placed close together, mistakes happen.
O thank god โฆ. Hopefully he will keep improving โฆโฆ
Great news and anybody that has given thumbs down is a sad b*****d..
Anyone giving these posts thumbs down โ I just hope such tragedy never darkens your door like it has Muambaโs family and friends #shameful
Relax lads, thumbs down is not a hurtful comment. Most likely a mistake, no reason to get upset.

To be honest I donโt follow english football at all and never heard of him till yesterdayโฆ But I have a son same age, I wish the poor lad a speedy and complete recoveryโฆas for the thumbs down folks, just ignore donโt even acknowledge them, thatโs what their looking forโฆattention! Fabrice I wish you the best, take it easy and recover.
Agreed im not even a football fan and to see thumbs down is an utter disgrace and to all the muppets that have given a thumbs down remember the world is round..
Good for him
Positive thoughts and a few prayers.
Why is there always such a fixation and inevitable discussion on red thumbs which takes all the comments completely off topic! just ignore them. Its either (a) accidental via people scrolling on a smart phone or (b) someone looking for a reaction. Either way, itโs annoying to see the comments and conversation on every other story turn from the story in hand to red thumbs.
Incredible news. Everyone involved so far deserves so much credit.
Sweet. Excellent news.
