Moyes: Januzaj will become one of the best players in Europe

The Belgium winger has struggled to make a tangible mark on Louis van Gaal’s starting XI.

DAVID MOYES SAYS Adnan Januzaj will become one of the world’s best players, having hailed him as one of the finest young players he has ever worked with.

The former Manchester United manager gave the 19-year-old his first-team debut during his sole season in charge, and Januzaj has since gone on to become a full Belgium international.

Since the appointment of Louis van Gaal, however, Januzaj has struggled for game time and is yet to complete the full 90 minutes for United this season.

Nevertheless, Moyes is effusive in his praise of the teenager and has compared the winger to a young Wayne Rooney. “Adnan Januzaj is, in my managerial time, the best young talent up there with Wayne Rooney,” Moyes told the Telegraph.

“You can see what he can become. When we had Wayne at Everton you could see the potential. Adnan Januzaj has got all that at the same age as Wayne. He’s one of the best young talents in Europe and he will go on to become one of the best players.

“When we went on tour last year he was one of the pluses. He did very well. There was a lot said about him. We came back and within a month we could not believe the change in him — he could go past people inside, outside, to the left, to the right.”

Moyes also praised Januzaj’s “arrogance,” and has backed him to scale the heights of the world game. “He had a bit of Chris Waddle about him,” he added.

“Chris Waddle used to slow you down and make you feel comfortable and before you knew it he was gone. Adnan has that. He can eliminate people.

“Yes, of course, he was young and he was going to not do it all the time but he has incredible skill, a good temperament and with the right degree of arrogance.

“Wayne was different but in the same way as we saw something special in him at Everton we saw that in Adnan Januzaj. I can only see the boy going right to the top.”

Michael Owen was the same. Played far too much at a young age and it knocked a few years off his playing career. Better to slowly integrate and nurture young talent

I think the days of throwing in young lads are over. Managers are nowadays like to dripfeed these young lads into teams. Look at Rodgers and Sterling, Martanez with Barkley.
Personally I feel its a good idea. Look at Rooney and Gerrard for example, personally I feel the both got to much football in there teens and early 20s .
LVG likes this young lad and if roumers are to be believed he was hesitant in signing De Maria in case he would damage his development at United. Hopefully he can live up to all the talk.

Under Moyes he had freedom to do what was needed. Under LVG he will have to adapt to his system, will take time. Raw skill right now, will get better as a team player.

I suppose when you compare him to another potential star in Sterling, their form in the past 6 months have been polar opposites.

Barely played? Check out how many first team games he played last season before coming out with manure like that.
