Video: Car catches fire on Dublin’s M50

Emergency services later cleared the car that had caught fire on the Dublin motorway. Gardaí said there were no injuries.

THE SOUTHBOUND LANES of the M8 motorway have been closed due to an oil spillage on the road.

The closure affects the whole area between Junction 3 near Abbeyleix, Co Laois and Junction 8 near Cashel, Co Tipperary. It’s expected the road will be closed for a number of hours.

Diversions are in place and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.

THE M50 MOTORWAY UPGRADE has officially been completed. The project cost €950m and took over four years to finish. The final N3 interchange section was opened to traffic at 5.30 this evening. Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey said it was a marvellous day for Ireland. His department said the upgrade reduced journey times by up to 50%.
