Minute's silence to be held before USA v Ireland clash

Ireland and the United States will commemorate the victims of the September 11th attacks with a minute’s silence before Sunday’s World Cup opener.

IRELAND AND THE USA will hold a minute’s silence before Sunday’s World Cup opener in New Plymouth to commemorate those that died in the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001.

The match takes place ten years to the day that four planes were hijacked and almost 3,000 people were killed in attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon in Washington.

Black armbands will be worn during the game, while the US Eagles will take part in a special memorial mass on the morning of the match.
