VIDEO: ‘The first emotion is relief’ for Donegal captain Michael Murphy

The young leader breathed a sigh of relief in this interview conducted soon after yesterday’s final whistle.

STOOD IN HIS recently acquired Cork jersey turned inside out, Donegal captain asserted to TV3′s post-match interview that ‘relief’ was the overwhelming emotion to hit he and his team-mates at the final whistle.

Like his manager, Murphy was keen to eye up areas which require a polish before a return to Croke Park in a month’s time. Defending their goal-line late on, the reason the final blast of the whistle brought a relieved puff of the cheeks rather than unyielding joy.

“It’s something we’re going to have to look strong and hard at. That’s twice in two games now we’ve conceded a goal in the last five minutes that really put our backs to the wall after being in a slightly comfortable position.”

Talking Points: Donegal 0-16 Cork 1-11, All-Ireland SFC semi-final
