Sacked Laudrup taking legal advice as he's denied farewell with players

The Denmark legend has been told to stay away.

MICHAEL LAUDRUP HAS slammed the manner of his sacking by Swansea and revealed he is considering legal action against the Premier League club.

Denmark football great Laudrup was dismissed as manager of the south Wales side on Tuesday following a poor run of results, barely a year after leading the Swans to the League Cup, the first major trophy in their history.

โ€œI am deeply disappointed to have been dismissed as manager of Swansea City,โ€ Laudrup said in a statement issued Tuesday with Swansea 12th in the table and still involved in the FA Cup and Europa League.

โ€œIn particular, the manner in which it happened and the actions the club has taken since notifying me in the briefest of letters which gave no reasons why such hasty and final action was deemed necessary.

โ€œI am, of course taking legal advice and the LMA (League Managersโ€™ Association) have already written to the club asking for a proper explanation as to why I was summarily dismissed.โ€

Laudrup added heโ€™d been banned by Swansea from visiting the training ground to thank the players.

โ€œThe club has informed me that I cannot visit the training ground to say my farewells to the players so I do that now through this statement.

โ€œThe players have been fantastic and their contribution under the very professional guidance of my coaching staff has been absolutely fundamental to the clubโ€™s recent successes. Three members of my staff have also been dismissed.

โ€œWhilst league results have been disappointing of late, we are still 12th in the table and it is there for all to see the fine margins in the league this season in terms of points that separate 11 clubs.โ€

Swansea have collected just six points fron their last 10 matches and are just two points above the relegation zone heading into this weekendโ€™s derby against Welsh rivals Cardiff.

Laudrup added: โ€œI have thoroughly enjoyed my time managing in the Barclays Premier League which I consider to be the one of the best leagues in world football.

โ€œOf course the obvious highlight during my time in charge was leading Swansea to the first major trophy in the clubโ€™s history in winning the Capital One (League) Cup at Wembley resulting in European qualification.

โ€œI wish the club the very best for the future and for the rest of the season in the Barclays Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup.โ€

Defender Garry Monk and first-team coach Alan Curtis will be in charge of the team for the Cardiff match.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, explaining the decision to sack Laudrup, said Tuesday it was the first time in nearly a decade the club had taken such action.

But he insisted removing Laudrup was necessary โ€œto allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few yearsโ€.

One of the first big mistakes Swansea have made since there recent rise from the lower echelons of league football, I fear for them now.

Getting rid of him was a good ideaโ€ฆhe was only phoning it in until the summer and a big offer from elsewhere. Swanseaโ€™s mistake has been to appoint Monkโ€ฆ..madness. It is so tight down the bottom, the last thing you need is a manager of so little experience leading the club

Getting rid of your manager in the middle of the season is a good idea? Donโ€™t think so. Especially with whatโ€™s happened since, stopping him saying goodbye to the players is wrong Iโ€™m sure the players arenโ€™t happy with this either.

He brought the best out of an average club. This year they are in a bad position with half the premier league teams. Only 3 points between 11th and 18th, I fear for them now that they sacked him halfway through the season. The players seemed to really like him, and I donโ€™t see too many options for a better manager available to them. Bigger clubs are struggling to find managers ffs, team owners have lost the run of themselves.
