IF MICHAEL D HIGGINS ever gets tired of, you know, being president, he could definitely fill in any spare time doing a bit of football punditry.

The President was at Dalymount Park last Friday night to watch Derry’s 2-1 win against Bohs, and afterwards, he caught up with Andy Donlan of BohsTV for a quick chat.

He proved that has an eye for a good ball-playing defender with his comments on Derek Pender’s performance but the kicker was his closing line: “The real test of those who like the beautiful game is to go and watch your local team.”

Just do it — your president commands you.

Us LoI fan’s have been saying it for years! Too many Irish would prefer to be stuck in front of the box watching foreign teams instead of supporting their local.
