Video: Metta World Peace takes a pick-up game just a little too seriously

The former NBA champion and All-Star gets physical at the Venice summer league in LA.

THE ARTIST FORMERLY known as Ron Artest has been on the wane for a while now – essentially ever since he changed his name to Metta World Peace a few years back.

Now a free agent since the Knicks bought out his contract back in February, he’s been keeping fit by playing some rec ball in the Venice Basketball League in Los Angeles. But at the weekend, he got into a little argy-bargy after those pesky amateurs were determined to get a piece of an iconic NBA name. Safe to say that it didn’t end well but them and that poor Metta didn’t really live up to his name.

After singing the praises of the league just days before, Metta backtracked and took to Twitter to express his frustration once the video began to go viral.

In true Metta-style, he admitted the rest of his team were intimidated by the physicality of the opponents and that his side were in dire need of some gritty, determined, edgy sorts. So, he asked for help.

Never a dull moment, really.
