Mesut Ozil sorry for snubbing Arsenal fans

The German international was lambasted by his teammate for failing to acknowledge the away support today.

ARSENAL PLAYMAKER MESUT Ozil has apologised to the club’s fans after failing to acknowledge them following his side’s heavy 6-3 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.

Ozil was chastised by team-mate and Germany colleague Per Mertesacker after heading straight for the tunnel at the final whistle, rather than going over to applaud the visiting supporters.

He apologised later on Saturday, writing on his official Facebook page: “Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game!

“You have been brilliant to me and I know you had travelled a long way and spent your money to support us. I was upset with the result and know I should have come to you to say ‘thank you’ and I know it is a big Arsenal tradition win, lose or draw.”

Arsenal remained top of the Premier League table following Saturday’s game, but their lead has been cut to just two points ahead of a home game with second-place Chelsea next weekend.

Great to see from Mertesacker. has really taken to the club. Why not give him the armband because Arteta shouldnt even be in the team. Plays with his heart on the sleeve

We were rightly beaten today and Ozil was poor, trying to look at the positives though this makes Big Mert even more of a legend than I already thought he was! Haha!

The Madrid president, perez, said he had no problem selling ozil because he lacked the heart and fight of a winner. The last few months have proved him an astute judge of character. Invisible against the better teams.

I heard in an interview a few weeks back bout the traditions that Arsenal have, like the captain decides if the team wears long or short sleeves (Flamini got in bother for cutting his sleeves I think) so maybe that’s what Mertsacker got bothered over, is going to the fans when playing away something Arsenal always do?

Sean stick to the golf, he was clearly just disappointed with the result, if you’ve ever lost a match you’ll know that you dont think of the parents on the touchline immediately after do you? He’s still new to the club and is not used to the tradition of going to the fans

Rick you probably support Manchester United or Liverpool with two of the biggest divers in the premiership in Ashley Young and Suarez, you’d know plenty about weak wouldn’t you? Let me guess you also think that United are automatically guaranteed a trophy every year and are threatening to start supporting another team if they don’t?

In the two important away games arsenal have played he has been completely ineffective. The Madrid president had a point. No point in being a home player only. Doesn’t look worth forty odd million at the moment. Yes he has six assists and a couple of goals but in that arsenal midfield, that’s hardly earth shattering.
