FOR 65 MINUTES against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lionel Messi had a fairly quiet evening by his superhuman standards.
Then he lit up the World Cup with a moment of individual brilliance that set Argentina on their way to an opening 2-1 win.
The moment was captured perfectly by photographer Victor R. Caivano, showing the havoc Messi wreaked on the Bosnian defence.
“Whatever happens in this World Cup, he is among the best players in the history of football,” coach Alejandro Sabella said afterwards, though he admitted that his team’s performance against the tournament new boys only deserved six out of 10.
