Meath's Geraghty to combine playing and selecting roles

Seamus McEnaney says the veteran star still has much to offer his side in a playing capacity.

MEATH MANAGER SEAMUS McEnaney has said Graham Geraghty will have no difficulty in his new dual role as player and selector for the county.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport’s Brian Carthy, McEnaney expressed confidence that the 39-year-old could still compete at the top level.

While explaining that he had not quite reached full fitness yet, Carthy cited his footballing ability as being integral to the side.

“He certainly has a role to play on the field as well as his role as a selector.

“Graham Geraghty is a fantastic footballer, and he has a contribution to make to this Meath team both as a player and as a selector, and I have no doubt he will be able to contribute in both roles.”

Geraghty retired in 2008, however he returned for Meath’s campaign last year.

Remember when Geraghty ran for FG and in an interview called himself a FF candidate by mistake! What a legend indeed. Poor Graham, so ‘misunderstood’
