NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE power of the person operating a stadium PA system.
Rory McIlroy was at the Kingspan Stadium (Ravenhill, to you and me) for this eveningโs Pro12 clash between Ulster and Connacht.
The four-time Major champion was given a warm ovation as he presented the Claret Jug to the crowd at half-time but then found himself as the butt of a perfectly-timed joke.
As he gave an interview to BBC, McIlroy realised that Neil Diamondโs hit โSweet Carolineโ was playing over the tannoy โ a not-too-subtle reference to McIlroyโs former fiancรฉe Caroline Wozniacki.
The crowd joined in and, to McIlroyโs credit, he took it with a smile and a playful shake of the head.
Even when youโre quite literally on top of the world, you can always trust the people back home to take you down a peg or two. They couldnโt have you getting notions.
This article more than makes up for no coverage of the actual match. Thanks lads!
The match was live on BBC

Explain your comment Dead Ball, if you can.
Iโm assuming heโs implying that there was no atmosphere there so they had to create an artificial one?
