GRAEME MCDOWELL RETURNED to the top 10 in the world golf rankings following his play-off victory at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina.
The Northern Irishman overcame Webb Simpson in the first play-off hole to claim his second PGA Tour title on Sunday, climbing 10 places to eighth in the rankings as a result.
The win saw McDowell snap an almost three-year winless drought on the PGA Tour, which stretched back to June 2010 when he claimed the US Open at Pebble Beach.
Raphael Jacquelin, who edged a record-equalling nine-hole play-off at the European Tour’s Open de Espana on Sunday, was another big mover, rising from 146th to 94th.
Masters runner-up Angel Cabrera also enjoyed a rankings boost, the Argentine climbing to 58th in the world on the back of his win at the 82 Abierto OSDE del Centro event on the PGA Tour of Latinoamerica.
Tiger Woods retained top spot ahead of Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Rose.
Englishman Luke Donald returned to the top five after a third-placed finish behind McDowell over the weekend, relegating Brandt Snedeker to sixth.
Louis Oosthuizen, McDowell, Steve Stricker and Matt Kuchar round out the top 10.
