Sports film of the week: 30 Days in May

This week’s documentary goes behind the scenes with Floyd Mayweather in the month leading up to his 2012 jail term for battery.

Title: 30 Days in May

Released: 2013

Plot: In 2011 world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather was found guilty of attacking his ex-girlfriend and sentenced to three months in prison.

“30 Days in May” follows Mayweather in the month prior to his incarceration, from his win over Miguel Cotto to the day he was locked up in Clark County Detention Centre.

“It reveals a side of Floyd Mayweather that few get to witness,” executive producer Todd Crites said, “a person who is somewhat of a simple man, caring, eloquent, soft-spoken and, at times, reflective of not only himself, but also the world around him.”

What the critics said: “The passions Mayweather evokes are similar to what you saw with Howard Stern in his heyday” (Kurt Badenhausen, Forbes)

Random YouTube comment: “You can’t hate Floyd after watching this. It’s not possible.” (Harrison White)
