EVERY GOOD DEED deserves another and there will be one Westport local hoping his will be recognised at Croke Park this afternoon.
An honest soul in the Mayo town found a precious ticket to today’s All-Ireland Football Final this morning and instead of cashing in on the discovery, he handed it straight into the local Garda station.
Meanwhile, the owner of the ticket had become aware of his loss on his way to the train and contacted a local radio station as he frantically began his search. The Gardaí were notified and the man was quickly united with the treasure.
Hopefully, he’s made his way comfortably to Dublin by now.
The charitable gesture is even more impressive after reports that tickets for the match have been sold for over €7,000. Yesterday, the Irish Sun reported that €7,100 was paid to a tout on eBay for a pair of Premium Level tickets.
With Donegal and Mayo emigrants coming home from America, Australia and elsewhere, the demand for entry to Croke Park is at an all-time high. It has been said that the 81,000-capacity stadium could have been filled three-times-over. Young boxer Paddy Barnes has even offered some bronze in exchange for a pass.
Great to see demand for the tickets but where was all the support the rest of the year when neither could sell out Croker or even for there provincial finals it wasn’t even a sellout for either team.I just hope the true supporters will all get their tickets ahead of all the blow ins for the allireland
Up Mayo!!!!!
I’ve been due karma for years…still waiting…
I suffer from Donelphobia, a fear of sharing a public space with Daniel O’Donnell. Was never going to this final…
Luckily wee Daniel is out in The US of A warbling to some rednecks…
Yup Maigh Eo
Well I think if you want to support your county do so and I don’t think they deserve to be called blow ins. All through the years tickets have mostly gone to gaa clubs with nobody else getting a ticket.
Begrudgers.
obviously a blow in Lisa
